Disco Elysium

You are a shitty alcoholic amnesiac wreck of a cop, investigating a murder in a town reeling from the aftermath of a failed communist uprising years ago. It's the best written videogame ever made.

It's beautiful and I'm playing it again for the first time since it released. The music, art, writing, game mechanics and everything work together to be more than the sum of their parts.

The studio wound up being taken from the people who built it in a story so convoluted it overshadows the thing they made, but ignore that for now.
